"Ty” Gnome Sculture by Tom Clark
Ty is taking a break and sitting on a half chewed ear of corn. Ty is a little fella. He has either struck out…but still smiling and just as happy to be in the game…or just smiling knowingly at one of his fellow players. Donning his baseball outfit and leaning on his bat, he is a delight to behold. Oh and his pocket, of course has the Gnome coin for good luck!
His base is chock full of acorns, leaves, and nuts. His pointed cap has a flipped up bill just as a traditional baseball cap. He is 6" tall and 3.5" in diameter. His base is felt lined.
The incredible detail in Tom Clarks figures always surprises us. Likewise of Ty’s facial lines, while very small are unbelievably detailed. His expression is of loving fatherly wisdom.
Etched into the pecan-shell based clay is “Ty 1990. T Clark #81 Cairin” and a # stamp of 5127.
I have read that the clay used in the making of these gnomes are of pecan shells, as this is a way to utilize the enormous amounts created on his pecan farm. “Each piece of the collection is individually hand cast from an original with a special blend of resins, crushed pecan shells, and wood chips”. He is solid and sturdy, not hollow.
