Chinese Wooden Bookmarkers set of 10
In your hand is a beautifully upholstered box in a quality brocade. It is tied with an attached pink cloth ribbon. You untie it and find 10 delightfully hand painted bookmarkers. You carefully take one out of the box and feel that it is so light and so thin, but you are distracted by the next beautiful scene painted on the one below it. And you keep taking them out and see that there are 10, all uniquely painted with a different pagodas, landscapes, mountains and bridges. Each one is stencil cut at the bottom and the top and tied with a brightly colored string.
Then you turn them over and you see each one is hand scribed in Chinese text. I have no idea what the text says, but I presume wise words of comfort and long life. If anyone can share the meaning of these words I would greatly appreciate it.
This set is beautiful. It is originally marked $35.00 and numbered as 01 of 600. (First Edition).
The top of the inside lid of the finely crafted paper box has English type stating it is made by the Ancient Canal Tourist Souvenir Factory.in Hangzhou China.
This set has been very well cared for. In pristine condition! I sense they are vintage somewhat, by the type on the box. This is obviously meant as a souvenir and not really for bookmarking, but I find it very difficult to shut these pretty little works of art back up in the box again. Beautiful!
