“Rhubarb” Leaf Serving Dish by Coral M ? 1951
Richly detailed and veined, this deep green serving dish is in mint condition and beautiful!. Not one chip or crack or crazing.
4 Deep 1.5 “ walls gracefully form the divisions of the Rhubarb leaf. The vein work is fascinating as it does appear very real. Some veins deeper than others gives it a 3D appearance. It is 13" x 9" x 1.5".
The bottom of the dish is as remarkable as the top. There is a foot that is simply a lip that extends from the underside and appears as a cover over the entire piece, even though it is part of the same porcelain. Even this thin lip does not have a chip in it. Note that in the picture, it appears as if there is a netted pattern in the glaze. This is visible only on the bottom. I want to point out that it is just that, a part of the glaze it is not crazing. And again there is no crazing on this anywhere.
It is hand inscribed, before glazing, “Rhubarb” and the name Coral M ??? (I cannot make it out (would love some input if anyone knows), “1951” and a copyright symbol. (I love that artists have the sense to date their work!).
Take this beauty home and enjoy it for many more years to come. It really is in wonderful condition for a dish that is literally 57 years old without a scratch!
